Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of its racking systems this year, Trans-Rak has commissioned a major research project with Loughborough University, to prepare for the decades ahead.

Recent dramatic events in the shipping world have highlighted the vulnerability of cargo stored unsecured on-deck. While these incidents are thankfully rare, it does raise the issue of containerisation to protect valuable finished automotive units.

Trans-Rak's re-useable racking systems for transporting finished vehicles in containers, have attracted strong interest from visitors to a recent exhibition promoting the Chongqing Freight Container station, which will eventually become the largest in-land container station in the world.

Shipping costs for cars in containers were once perceived to be far more expensive than Ro-Ro; but a new study illustrates that this is not necessarily the case anymore and that there are clear advantages to containerisation, both in terms of transit speed and safe delivery.

Nissan South Africa are now using R-Raks to ship Pick-ups from South Africa to Dubai. This operation started trials in February and is now up to full volume.
