2023 has been a busy year for the team at Trans-Rak, so much so, that we are only just getting around to catching up on two of the really interesting events we attended back in October this year: Intermodal Europe in Amsterdam on 10th-12th October, and the ECG Conference in Copenhagen on 12th-13th of the same month. It was a hectic few days!In this article, we will set down our thoughts and reflections on this year’s Intermodal Europe, and chat about the ECG Conference 2023 in an upcoming article.
Intermodal: Europe’s Leading Annual Automotive Logistics Conference
Intermodal Europe is a market leading global conference and trade fair, attracting speakers, exhibitors, and stakeholders from across the international container shipping and intermodal transport community. Intermodal Europe is the annual meeting point for the intermodal industry, comprising a free to attend exhibition and conference covering all areas associated with the container and automotive logistics industries, and giving businesses the opportunity to place their products and services in front of a global audience. The event has taken place every year for nearly half a century, and the next event is scheduled to take place in Rotterdam in November 2024.
The 2023 Event
This year, we were delighted to attend Intermodal Europe for three productive days of networking, learning, and collaboration with friends and colleagues from the sector. The event was attended by over 100 leading global providers and thought leaders, contributing to this year’s conference theme: Innovations in Container Shipping – Supporting Sustainable Growth.
We always enjoy this conference as a great opportunity to learn from key industry experts and market leaders, build new connections with innovative industry suppliers, and introduce our products to like-minded professionals around the world. Issues discussed as part of the open forums and keynote speeches included sustainability and environmental impact, the potential of innovative IT solutions to reduce logistics costs, new tracking technologies, customs and market changes, and strategies for improving supply chain collaboration and interoperability.
One of the highlights of this year’s event for us was the Women in Container Logistics Working Lunch, which gave a much-deserved platform to leading women in the sector, allowing them to share their journey and give advice to the next generation of female logistics professionals preparing to take the next steps in their own careers.
