There was plenty of drama at Round 4 of the 7 Racing Caterham Seven 420R Championship at the spectacular Anglesey Circuit, with Trans-Rak-sponsored driver Wes Payne delivering another outstanding weekend to reclaim the championship lead.
After qualifying on pole position, Wes produced a consistently impressive performance across all three races, finishing 2nd, 1st and 3rd. The results meant he stood on every step of the podium over the course of the weekend and leaves Anglesey back at the top of the championship standings with just two rounds remaining.
It was a weekend that showcased exactly what motorsport is about - speed, resilience and determination.
Fellow front-runner Carl Jones arrived at Anglesey full of confidence following a highly successful test day, but changing weather conditions transformed the car's handling. Despite qualifying fifth, mechanical issues hampered his first two races, including an electrical fault and a broken driveshaft that forced a retirement.
Refusing to give up, Carl and his team made bold setup changes ahead of the final race. Starting 11th on the grid, he produced one of the drives of the weekend, charging through the field to finish fourth and narrowly missing out on another podium after an exciting battle with Wes in the closing laps.
Congratulations also go to David Baldwin, who celebrated his first and second victories in the Caterham Seven 420R Championship with two superb race wins.
