Trans-Rak sponsored driver and our Director of Engineering, Wes Payne, has been crowned 2026 7 Racing 420R Champion after a thrilling championship finale at Brands Hatch.
With just 15 points separating Wes from his closest championship rival, Carl Jones, heading into the final weekend, the title fight was set to go right down to the wire.
The Brands Hatch GP finale took place on 19–20 September, with the championship standings determining the starting positions after changes to the weekend schedule.
A podium finish to seal the title
Wes delivered when it mattered most, securing third place in the final 420R races to bank the points needed to secure the championship.
The podium saw Diogo Costa take a maiden race win, with Lee Wiggins finishing second and Wes completing the podium in third.
It was a fitting way to finish what has been a hugely competitive season. Wes has been a consistent presence at the front of the 420R field throughout the year, including victories at Silverstone and Snetterton and a strong fightback at Donington.
From the Trans-Rak Caterham to the championship
As a Trans-Rak sponsored driver, Wes has raced the Trans-Rak-liveried Caterham throughout the 2026 season, alongside his role as Trans-Rak’s Director of Engineering.
We’re incredibly proud to see him add the 7 Racing 420R Championship title to what has already been an exciting season of racing.
